Поддерживаю. Почему нет? Я закончила минский иняз в 2005 г., работаю в области перевода, но очень не хватает живого общения на английском (а можно и на французском). Изучала эти два языка, сейчас работаю с обоими по мере возможности.

И у меня как-то была такая мысль. Есть даже что-то вроде дискуссионных клубов на курсах разных языковых центров, но что-то подсказывает мне, что и у нас уровень неплохой, а деньги с помощью уже выученного языка нужно зарабатывать, а не тратить.

Носители - это хорошо. Но при отсутствии оных можно тж вполне продуктивно общаться друг с другом.

В каком формате вы все это видите? Можно подробнее?

Мы уже проводим такого рода мероприятия... на квартире у девченок с инъяза... Общение проходит за чашкой чая с чем-нибудь вкусненьким... Для начала каждый может рассказать какую-нибудь новость или интересный случай за последнюю неделю. Если человек новый, он может рассказать о себе. Затем есть часть для лексики в виде игр, которые располагают к дискуссиям и изучению новых словосочетаний или оборотов... Когда у нас пару раз были американцы, просто интересно было с ними общаться, т.к. не часто общаешься с носителями

Why don't you speak English here?

I am all for a bit of a speaking practice, but as for those tea-English meetings, I find the idea a little odd, artificial, though, probably, it's just my way of seeing it. Indeed it must be pretty much of a fun: why, drinking tea, telling tales of your life, so it must.

But then, that 'life full of sense' thing, that's what makes it all sound a trifle sectarian, don't you agree?

О, мне это интересно. Как раз собрался изучить англ., а денег нету.

Well, from my own experience reading fiction books does make a world of good. Certainly, speaking practice is very important, but it's hard to speak without at least some feeling of a language (not to mention you will need somebody to speak with), and it is this intuitive comprehension of how a language works that you can gain just by reading.

Reading is not so boring as attending courses, or trying to learn English by yourself studying textbooks, and it really shows you the language. Of course, reading will not teach you what tense is this or that, and what mood do we use here and there, but somehow all these know-hows infiltrate you after a while.

You will still be making a lot of mistakes and your English will not be precisely like that of Tony Blair, but I can guarantee that you will be pleased with your progress.

I am not learning it, I am enjoying it while reading books or watching movies.

I have never attended any training courses or something. I did have an excellent teacher at school, though.

School's good, but it's english program lacks life in some sense. None of englishmen (I even not speaking of americans ) speak in a way , we are studying it. We study all perfect times and all exceptions and even don't have notions about slang and real language. My opinion is - it's better to live one year in the UK, the USA or Australia etc. instead of 11+5... years studying and losing health here.

Me too, have not been to the UK but had a chance to have a conversation with people, who consider an English as their native language... pity, after all sweat and tears, all graduates and lost neurons I've realised, that my "language course" is at the very beginning.
