Prague, March 31 2003 - Starting tomorrow, Eurotel Praha customers can take advantage of a new ´Data Nonstop´ program of mobile data services and discounts. For a fixed monthly fee, Eurotel contract customers can receive unlimited GPRS access to the Internet. Further, both Go prepaid and regular contract customers, who can thus save up to 75 per cent, will receive significantly reduced rates on all existing data connections.
"Data usage will grow as wholistic consumer solutions are created by operators. We have the technology, services and content from our partners, now we are focusing on more convenient pricing, " explains Garrison Macri, the chief commercial officer, "This year a line of telephones with a graphical user menu will appear on the market, which should be on of the last steps to make data services available to our customers. " We will pre-configure these handsets for data usage and make access to content easier via our mobile media web portal," added, Macri.
Thanks to HSCSD and GPRS technologies, the access to the data services in Eurotel's network is as fast as the common access via fixed telephone connection. Eurotel offers its customer's information and entertainment from several dozens of its partners, such as the world-known trademarks Sony Music, Warner Bros, Reuters, NHL or Playboy. In the preceding years, Eurotel introduced a number of new services, such as SMS Chat, GSM Infotext, GSM Banking, multimedia messages, video news, Internet access and e-mail access due to which a mobile telephone is more than a device for calls and text messages. For this year, Eurotel is working with various manufactures including Sony/Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and Siemens to launch of new telephones with a graphical user interface making the use of the data services easier.
For mobile data transmissions via HSCSD Fast, the discount is a 68 percent reduction from CZK 6.50 to 2.10 per minute. Also, Go users will now be able to use GPRS Instant - previously only available for WAP with prepaid services - to access the Internet for the low rate of just CZK 0.03 per 1kB of transmitted. The discounted rates apply to all prepaid customers until June 30, 2003, both during peak times and outside them.
Also starting tomorrow, Eurotel is extending its discount on evening data connections for contract customers. The off-peak discount applies between 8.00 p.m. and 8.00 a.m. from Monday to Friday. (The discount does not apply during weekends and holidays.)
Finally, Eurotel is also lowering prices by 50 percent for three months on the SMS Data Plus tariff. This mainly benefits company customers working with large volumes of SMS messages and data transmissions via GPRS.
