Hispanic 67% of students, White 26% of students, Black 4% of students.

It is concerning, then, that students who grow up in wealthy families are more likely to attend Ivy-Plus schools, even after taking academic qualifications into account. Among middle-class high school students who score at the 99th percentile on the SAT or ACT, roughly 10% attend an Ivy-Plus university. But among ultrarich students with identical test scores, nearly half attend one of the twelve most elite schools.
Children from families with income in the top 1% are more likely to be admitted to Ivy League and other elite colleges, including Stanford, according to a new study. That's true even when controlling for standardized test scores/
Indirectly, yes. People here answered that no, since you can even not pay tuition if your income is low. That is true. It seems that as long as you demonstrate to be up to their standards, you’re welcome. Yet as you can see in study below, most students in elite colleges are wealthy. In fact, “61% come from the top 20 percent. About 3.4% of students at M.I.T. came from a poor family”. This has changed but not in a good way, since over 2 decades the top 1% attending elite colleges has been growing while the bottoms 40%, 20%, 10% and 1% attending elite colleges has decreased. That doesn’t mean the university itself is directly rejecting or accepting students based on their income, but more so that people’s income gives them more opportunities the higher it is. Wealthy students can be full time students without the stress of working for a living. Also, you need a letter of recommendation. It is easier to get a private educator’s recommendation or get into nice part time or full time job which can write a nice letter if you’re wealthy and your family has a pretty good network.
So yeah, it seems as it is now elite colleges are mostly for the wealthy. It isn’t exclusive, and the income for graduated students seems to be the same regardless of their income before attending. So if you are smart and disciplined you can probably get in and improve your life drastically. More than the actual wealthy students since they just remain wealthy.
