It’s hard not to fall in love with the Breguet Tradition ref. 7057. The movement itself deserves an entire book to be explained, explored and compared to the antique Breguet watches. This watch is a magnet for conversations but never feels like a showy item. Wearing this is like having a watchmaking course on the wrist and a proper tribute to the greatest watchmaker of the history. Amazingly, Breguet achieve to recreate in an extremely faithful way an antique movement – and the surprise comes from the visual modernity of this watch. Price: 26.900 Euros.

Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Bronze 45mm

Bronze… Not your typical material for a watch – and especially when it comes to a pilot watch. Bronze had been used several times in watchmaking but it makes more sense on a dive watch (even if, to be true, bronze remains quite an odd choice for a timepiece. We’ll get back on the reasons why later in this article). When you think bronze, you immediately think Panerai but other brands used it (like IWC with the Aquatimer). Now it’s Zenith’s turn to introduce a watch made in this green metal. It’s a pilot watch, it’s big but it looks really cool. Here is the Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Bronze 45mm.

Montblanc Villeret ExoTourbillon Rattrapante

As with the Tourbillon Cylindrique Geosphères Vasco da Gama, this is obviously a major horological showpiece, not an every-day wearer. At the same time, though, it is for its size quite comfortable on the wrist, and it shares the same generally approachable ergonomics of the Tourbillon Cylindrique Geosphères Vasco da Gama in terms of wearability. It’s perhaps a bit less overtly dramatic (the Vasco da Gama’s visual pyrotechnics, with its two hand-decorated hemispheres, would be tough to beat) but it’s got a tremendous amount of visual punch of its own, with a creamily beautiful gold and grand feu enamel dial. And the view through the case-back of the movement is one of the most breathtaking we’ve seen in a long, long time.

Split seconds monopusher chronograph with two column wheels, and second time zone indication. Urwerk UR-106 Lotus

Despite being branded as a "ladies watch" I think this ought to be considered a unisex watch more than anything else – though I also think it's great that Urwerk wants to specifically celebrate women. This watch clearly is a product of passion rather than pressure to produce a watch for a woman, which is extremely refreshing. Pricing on the black model as shared with us by Urwerk should be CHF 85,000.
