Solutions
Phenomenon:
Canon has discovered that, when shooting with the variangle LCD monitor open in bright light or sunny conditions with light shining on the back of the camera, an effect such as that pictured below can occur in images taken with the PowerShot A650 IS.
Temporary solution:
You can avoid this phenomenon by shooting with the variangle LCD monitor closed, as shown below
Affected Cameras:
Products that have a zero in the fifth digit from the left (xxxx0xxxxx) in the manufacturing number listed on the bottom of the camera are affected.
However, for some products with the serial numbers described above, a countermeasure has already been incorporated. Products with this counter measure can be identified by a marking like the one in the image below (inside the battery cover). For these products, this problem will not occur and the product can be used as is.
