When you think of it this way, “ultra thin” is certainly a complication. It requires very specific skills, knowledge and craftsmanship, and ultra thin movements are (especially these days) more rare than tourbillons. Hundred and forty-five (145) components are within the space of 3.65 mm in height and 38 mm in diameter, and that includes the case and crystal. Piaget has been a champion of ultra thin watches, and movements. In 1957, the brand introduced the famous ultra-thin hand-wound calibre 9P, which was only 2 mm thick. In 1960, Piaget launched the Calibre 12P, the world’s thinnest self-winding movement, which measured just 2.3 mm thick. With the Altiplano 900P (introduced late 2013) they set a new world record for thinnest wrist watch, and well, as you can see it is very thin.

Bell & Ross BR01 Skull Bronze Tourbillon
The movement inside the BR01 Skull Bronze Tourbillon is the BR-Cal.281, originally developed by the now defunct BNB Concepts, a former movement developer whose work trickled down to various brands and watches over the years. It is a hand-wound movement with five days of power reserve. The regulating organ is visible at the bottom of the dial and decorated with the B&R-logo adorning the tourbillon cage.
The unique Bell & Ross BR01 Skull Bronze Tourbillon will be delivered in a wooden chest with glass dome covering the timepiece, just like a treasure-chest. The glass dome slots into the opening of the cover of the chest, to allow for a full view of the watch while still keeping it protected when encased. The Laurent Ferrier Galet Square is a 41mm reinterpretation of The Galet (pebble), now redesigned with a square case that aspires to look like a cushion. This is Laurent Ferrier’s first steel case, and at its Baselworld debut this year two models were launched. One, pictured here, has a blue dial with white gold markers. A second model features a sunburst gold-toned dial. Automatic caliber FBN 229.01 powers the watch with a unidirectional pawl-fitted micro-rotor and a three-day power reserve.
